Harvey Lizard

There are times when you’re the hero

and there’s times you are the fraud

and there’s times you know that you are just my circus.

They are times when I tell stories

and there’s times when I steal skulls

and there’s times I kick the nuns downstairs

on purpose.

There are times I watch you leaping

and I smile when you’re my lake

and there’s times I can’t remember why I bother.

There are times I have you creeping

and there’s times you shake and bake

and there’s time that I am grateful for your fodder.

But mostly (mainly often)

I am glad you’re not my man

I am glad I only see you with that gizzard

I am glad you are a stranger

I am glad you’re tall yet blind

and I’m glad I barely know you Harvey Blizzard.

Paper Moons and Caviar Wishes

In Amanda Greenleaf-Whelan, Rhymes of Passion Fruit on April 24, 2010 at 3:43 am

See, through the eyes of a falcon

(karma ignites at such speed)

brushing off hurtful enjoyment–tonguing ones cheek with raw creed

Feel, from the skin of a sunset

Pink, it explodes without shame

Rest, in the mouth of a raindrop

Fall, knowing death is a game

Cry, in the lap of a stranger

Give, like a tap dancing heart

Crack open, doubt with hard liquor

Pull back, ones horse before cart…
